So, yeah,... August went by in a flash, so did September. In fact, I can barely remember what did the past 2 months. But nevermind, on with the highlights...
The Show that you missed - David Martel @ the Rivoli
In the spirit of the Quebec Folk International Festival, which is a world wide coordinated effort to make Quebecois Folk artists known. David Martel visited Toronto with Theresa Andersson, both absolutely incredible artists.
Surrounded by about a dozen of pedals and a multiple of instruments, Theresa Andersson stood alone on the stage and came a one-woman band with the help of looping pedals and numerous instruments. Andersson offers a prestine clear sound that by moment will remind you of the charm of warm rainy days or the outer joy of freely dancing carelessly. The experience was simply entrancing and just never seemed to be enough. A mash up of icelandic inspired folk and cajun sounds streamed through master hands, Theresa Andersson captured the audience immediately and should assuredly captured you too.

Following up was David Martel, an artist that I had been looking forward for months to see live after falling in loving with "Stay in" and "Yours and Mine" on his MySpace page. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed not to see a full band there, but fear not, it was not a disappointment. Accompanied by the lovely Natasha, David Martel delivered each songs with the pure intensity that acoustic music has to offer. Martel has nothing to prove in his abilities but it was remarkably impressive to see the emotions that transpired in each songs that were performed. Not only his lyrics are already carrying the loud and clear messages but the energy and feeling put into each songs really seized me. Definitely a great show! I look forward to eventually seeing him with a full band.
The TV Show that you should, like totally watch!
By now, you probably seen all the much flattering posters of Jane Lynch with that loser sign on her forehead. If you shrugged it off as another future Fox failed show, let me tell you... You're completely wrong!
This new comedy has dark bitting sense of humour, that I am guilty of enjoying, probably a little too much. William Schuster is a teacher in an public school in Ohio, you know your average "I'm gonna change the world today" type of teacher. He decides to take over the Glee club, a show-choir club, which is mostly made the worst of the school's losers.
Not only is there a constant chain of lies and deceipt (which always makes for great television) but most of the characters are just poor innocents people getting constantly manipulated, but in a very comical way and show tunes are included and FANTASTIC! In fact, I suspect that the Pilot version's "Don't Stop Believin'" from Journey has elicited the interest in CK Audio's remix.
If you haven't started watching this show yet, you need to. It is the one show to watch this TV Season.
